Using this Blog

Mooring at Robinhood Marina
This Portland Yacht Club Cruising blog is intended as a communications resource for cruising members of the Portland Yacht Club.  The blog allows communication in two ways:
  • it provides details about the Club's organized cruises; and,
  • it can be used by members to share cruising plans, stories and pictures.
The blog is administered by the Portland Yacht Club's Cruise Officer (email cruise@pycme.net).

Information about the Club's organized cruises, including the complete summer calendar and details about the various cruises, is readily accessible on the blog via tabs below the blog title.  For example, you can select "2014 Cruising Calendar" for an overview of the summer cruising season, or "Sebasco Cruise" for details about this year's cruise to Sebasco Harbor Resort on August 9-10.  Available information typically includes dates for visits to various destinations, times and locations for planned events, and photographs or chart excerpts showing the areas where we will meet.  You can also search the entire blog for words such as the name of a harbor, using the search bar at the top of the page on the left side.

We encourage you to share your own cruising experiences by contributing to the blog!  Contributions could include details about a cruise that you are planning, or memories and pictures from one of our cruises.  Contributing is simple, and requires no technical skills; simply email your text or pictures to the Cruise Officer at cruise@pycme.net.  Photographs can be either embedded within your email, or attached as separate files.  The Cruise Officer will review your draft submission, and reserves the right (but assumes no duty) to edit postings before they appear on the blog.  For example, to respect privacy the Cruise Officer may abbreviate names or omit unflattering photographs.

As our cruising season begins, we look forward to communicating with you via this blog in a way that we hope will be convenient and informative for you.  Likewise, we eagerly anticipate reading and sharing your contributions to the blog!
